My name is Nicola Balice.

I’m a 27-year-old chemist from Italy.

I took my Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry at the University of Siena in 2020, and then my Master’s Degree in Organic Chemistry at the University of Padova in 2023, with a Master’s Thesis on peptide synthesis and Peptide Drug Conjugates.

After my studies, I moved to Switzerland where I stayed for 3 years and gained considerable industry experience in the domains of bioconjugation, literature scouting and organic synthesis of small molecules.

Now I have just moved to Ireland and joined UCD to work as a temporary Research Associate for the SINFERT project in Dr. Kirill Nikitin’s group, where we delve into the complex and interesting chemistry of phosphorus, trying to explore new pathways and synthetic routes.

I hope to have a great time here in Ireland, to feel welcomed by the team and to provide a valuable contribution to UCD and its innovative research projects.
